Rafick’s subject of interest is examining the underlying reasons behind migration. His films offer a space for reflection about the notion of double identity and the conflicting relationships that may exist between the individual the migrant has become and the one he was before he left his birthplace. Often, after many years away from his homeland, the individual (migrant) tends to reposition himself, to reaffirm his forgotten identity. His films echo a journey where the past mixes with the present to reflect the complexity of migrant identity.
